Week 4 Rankings

September 19, 2010

No major upsets this past weekend in the world of college football unless you want to call the Arizona win ove Iowa an upset. Yes, I had Iowa ranked in the Top 10, but yes in my mind Arizona was the favorite to win that game. We discussed the game briefly on ComRadio's Tailgate Show and I had to declare that there that Arizona would win that game. Thanks to late heroics after blowing a 27-7 lead, the Wildcats won 34-27. Despite that loss though, Iowa is still right now my pick to win the Big Ten Conference and these two teams could potentially meet again in the Rose Bowl.

Did you watch these games?

We've got some huge games coming this week. So far my Upset Picks have been good with Boise State over Virginia Tech in Week One, South Carolina over Georgia last week and Arizona over Iowa this week, but now it could all go bad. My Top Upset Pick for Next Week: Arkansas over Alabama. I circled this one back in August. Ryan Mallett with all of his weapons back vs. that young, but very talented Alabama secondary. I can't wait.

We've also got a big game Thursday night with Miami traveling to Pittsburgh. Miami should be ranked, but I have them on the very cusp of the bubble right now but Pittsburgh has been a constant in my rankings. Miami's the better team but it's going to be a tough game on the road. Dion Lewis hasn't been Dion Lewis yet this year for Pitt, so he needs to get going, but Miami needs to stop him. We saw Ohio State's dominance over the Hurricanes and Pittsburgh's defense is very similar to Ohio State's. What makes this matchup that much more intriguing is that both teams are coming off a bye. They've had more than 10 days to prepare for each other. This is going to be a great game.

Other notables: TCU @ SMU, UCLA @ TEXAS, Stanford @ Notre Dame, Temple @ Penn State, South Carolina @ Auburn, Oregon State @ Boise State, West Virginia @ LSU, among so many other good matchups. More on those games and other games later in the week.

Right now, it's time for my Rankings.
