Rankings after Week 8

October 26, 2009

Alabama should have lost. Tennessee beat themselves. Enough said.

Iowa made a huge comeback in the final minute to score a touchdown on the game's last play against Michigan State to go to 8-0 for the time in school history. USC also had a tough game in the Coliseum and survived against Oregon State.

Georgia Tech beat down Virginia 34-9, but are the Yellow Jackets a Top Ten team? They might get into the Top 10 but I don't think so. Their defense, or lack thereof, really hurts them in my opinion, but then again any team that can beat Bud Foster's Virginia Tech defense by only completing one forward pass is something special. Speaking of Virginia Tech, they were idle this week but that didn't lower them in my rankings this time.

Thanks to Alabama blocking Tennessee's game-winning field goal attempt, the only major upset today was Clemson over Miami. A game that I circled on the calendar back in August. Kyle Parker's touchdown pass up the middle to Jacoby Ford in overtime sealed the 40-37 upset of Miami.

I'm currently watching the Fresno State-New Mexico State and Arizona State-Stanford games and keepin an eye on the Boise State-Hawaii game. Boise is the only ranked team still in action but are in full control of Hawaii and it should stay that way so I've prepared my rankings already and you'll notice that I've put Florida back on top.

Games Watched Count: 99.
Next game I'll see will be my 100th. Got my eye on East Carolina at Memphis on Tuesday.
