Rankings after Week 12

November 26, 2009

So I was sick all weekend so I never did post the new ones.
The college football season is coming to an end. It's a pretty sad time. This is the last week of regular season play for most teams and also Rivalry Week for most teams. Next week the conference championships will be played. Barring any Major Upsets, it will be Texas vs. the winner of the SEC for the national championship.

Texas first though has to take care of business against Texas A&M on Thanksgiving Night and then beat Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship Game. Texas beat A&M 49-9 last year but Colt McCoy is 1-2 against the Aggies. Texas A&M has a history of beating Texas in the big moments. They're playing in College Station tonight, one of the toughest places to play. Texas will have to deal with the rough environment and the crowd, and they have to be focused because they are on upset alert. Their goal is to finish the season undefeated, but one loss, and the season is over. One loss takes away their spot in the national championship game making this season worth absolutely nothing without the Crystal Football at the end.

Last week we had a total of 8 top 25 teams lose. This week that number got cut in half. Only one top ten team lost and that was No. 8 LSU against Ole Miss in that terrible clock management at the end by LSU. They had a chance to take a shot at the endzone or even kick a game-winning field goal, but let the clock run out on them and now they've slipped in SEC West Standings and went from a possible BCS-berth to not even the SEC's best bowl game.

Here's where I rank the teams this week. Not much change at the top, but then again, Texas is the only Top 5 team that played against a real football team.
