Rankings after Week 11

November 15, 2009

Let me just say real quick that my rankings do not reflect what I predict the official rankings to be. I get annoyed with the people who look at where I rank teams and then see where they're officially ranked and tell me I was wrong. I'm not trying to predict what the rankings will be or create my mock rankings, I am ranking the teams on my own based on what I've seen of them every week.

Looking back at today's college football games that I've seen, I am very, very impressed with the TCU Horned Frogs. After watching most of the TCU-Utah game, I was very tempted to put TCU No. 1 in my rankings or at least No. 2 or No. 3. In the end, I didn't. My top 6 with the 6 undefeated teams remains unchanged. My Texas Longhorns also made a case for No. 1 in their complete domination of Baylor in which it was 40-0 at halftime.
Looking at next week, Texas is the only undefeated team that plays a "real" football team next week in Kansas. Florida and Alabama will play FCS foes while Boise State plays lowly Utah State and TCU plays overmatched Wyoming.

It was a day full of upsets, the most shocking had to be Houston losing to Central Florida. I don't think anybody but UCF fans even talked about that happening. Case Keenum threw for 377 yards and 2 touchdowns in the game, but the loss may have taken away his chance at winning the Heisman Trophy after he had had a Heisman Moment in the win over Tulsa last week.

We also saw eight Top 25 teams lose this week causing a lot of shuffling in the rankings and a lot of teams moving way up. The teams that won however did some clinching.

Georgia Tech has clinched a spot in the ACC Championship Game where they will most likely see Clemson again. Clemson is ready for a matchup, they should have won the previous meeting earlier this season.

Ohio State clinched the Big Ten Conference and a trip to the Rose Bowl for the first time since 1997 with its overtime win over Iowa today. Iowa's lost back-to-back games now, but they surprisingly gave Ohio State quite a challenge late in the game.

Texas QB Colt McCoy tied David Greene for the most wins in NCAA history. Colt now has 2 regular season games, the Big 12 Championship Game, and the bowl game to become the all-time wins leader.
